Though it's unlikely you'll be able to wiggle out of Thanksgiving celebrations this weekend, if you can manage to slip away there should be one destination at the top of your list: Paris. Not for the romantic scenery or architecture or world-class dining and museums, but for Belles Montres, the Paris watch show held each year at the Carrousel du Louvre, below the world's most famous art museum. The show runs from November 23 to 25.
This year will mark the sixth edition of Belles Montres, which translates to "Beautiful Watches." And beautiful they are. The show features the most up-to-date, complex offerings from some of the most prestigious watchmakers in the world, both niche and gigantic. It is the only event of its kind in Paris, making it the event of the year for French and international collectors.
Within the common area of the Carrousel, an exquisite shopping mall situated just below the museum's famed glass pyramid, enthusiasts wander, glasses of champagne in hand, among more than 50 brands' displays, each uniquely crafted to convey the artistry of the brand. Chanel, Bell & Ross, Bulgari, Cartier, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin and Ulysse Nardin are all regular exhibitors.
This show isn't about selling watches, but about craftsmanship. The pieces on display are never commercial. Rather, they are examples of each brand's highest level of complication and design, making Belles Montres a unique experience on the circuit.
Even if you're new to collecting or the life of a watch lover, the Belles Montres show can help you find a brand that you identify with in every way. With so many pieces on display and a once-in-a-lifetime experience, who wouldn't?
If you can't get out of family celebrations, though, Philippe's Watches offers a variety of special edition and vintage watches from brands exhibiting their work at Belles Montres. Stop in to our Beverly Hills watch store soon to view our collection!
